The Components Of The CarDefender Kit

Transponder Key (RF tags)
One of the features of CarDefender is the method used to enable your vehicle. Just hold one of the two supplied transponder keys within one inch of your hidden transceiver, listen for CarDefender to "beep" and start your vehicle. It's that simple! The Transponder keys are a RFID device coded with one of 1.1 trillion different codes assuring that no one will have the same coded transponder key. The transponder key does NOT transmit. Its code is read by the transceiver which has a reception area the size & shape of a golf ball.

This makes it impossible for a thief equipped with a digital scanner to pick up your code and operate your vehicle when you are not around. The transponder key is very thin and can be attached to your key chain or glued to the back of a alarm remote if used in conjunction with a alarm system. It's durable construction is waterproof and virtually indestructible, and unlike an alarm remote, it does NOT require batteries.

Hidden Transceiver
The hidden transceiver is an important part of CarDefender's success. This small device may be mounted behind any non-metallic part of your car. Many customers mount their CarDefender under the carpet, behind the dash, inside the center console, even inside the drivers seat. You have the option of mounting it behind anything non-metallic. The transceiver is also waterproof.

Controller
The controller is the brain of CarDefender. It's compact durable design allows it to be installed in the smallest of spaces. The 6-pin connector allows for easy connection to the wiring harness. Two female connectors on the end of the controller provide an easy "plug-in" connection to the transceiver and LED.

This makes it impossible for a thief equipped with a digital scanner to pick up your code and operate your vehicle when you are not around. Wiring Harness
The wiring harness provides a great way to connect your controller to the circuits it needs. The harness is terminated at one end with a 6-pin connector to connect to the controller. The other end contains two spade connectors, two "butt-connectors" to crimp to your interrupted circuit, and a ring terminal to connect to a good chassis ground.

Also included in your CarDefender kit is a "by-pass" plug that plugs in to the wiring harness and by-passes the CarDefender controller. This will allow you to eliminate your CarDefender as the source of any electrical problem should one arise in your vehicle.

LED
The LED (Light Emitting Diode) is included with every CarDefender. The LED will flash when your car is immobilized or in valet mode. The purpose of the LED is to provide a visible theft deterrent, and to show you what mode CarDefender is in. (immobilized, run, or valet).

If you do not wish to view the LED, just roll up the wire and zip tie or tape it up out of the way under the dash.
