Hidden Transceiver
When CarDefender is installed in your vehicle, the installer will adhere CarDefender's hidden transceiver behind any non-metallic surface less than one-inch thick. Normally the transceiver is mounted behind an area of your dash, console or seat. Figure 1 shows the transceiver mounted behind a center console. The fact that the transceiver is hidden & that the reception range is only the size of a golf ball add to the level of security.
Normal Operation
To enable your vehicle with the ignition key off, simply hold one of the two supplied transponder keys (FOB's) within one inch of the hidden transceiver (antenna) CarDefender will "beep" twice letting you know it has enabled your vehicle. You then have five seconds to start your vehicle as normal. Five seconds after you turn your vehicle off, CarDefender will automatically disable your vehicle again. Although five seconds may not sound like a lot of time to start your vehicle, we assure you it's more than adequate.
Valet Operation
We all need to let other people operate our vehicle at some point or another, whether it's a valet at a restaurant or a mechanic at your local garage. CarDefender is equipped with a valet mode that when activated will allow anyone to run your vehicle without having to tell them anything about the CarDefender System. There is NO valet switch in the CarDefender system.(switches can be operated by anyone who finds them)
To enable valet mode you hold your transponder key (FOB)within one inch of your hidden transceiver until CarDefender beeps three times, then remove it, have enabled the valet mode. Anyone may now operate your vehicle. Each time you turn your vehicle off while in the Valet mode CarDefender will "beep" three times, reminding you that the valet mode is active and your vehicle is unprotected.
When you return to pick up your vehicle simply start it up & drive away, when you reach your destination & turn the engine off CarDefender will "beep" three times to remind you that CarDefender is on Valet, To turn valet mode off, with the ignition key off, you simply hold the transponder key (FOB) within one inch of your hidden transceiver until you hear two short beeps followed by one long beep "beep", CarDefender has now returned to normal operation. CarDefender is now equipped with a LED to show you which mode the system is in.
NOTE! WHEN IN THE VALET MODE
YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT BEING PROTECTED BY CarDefender
AND SHOULD BE SWITCHED TO THE NORMAL MODE
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
