Installation Overview
CarDefender installation is generally easier than installing a conventional car alarm. There are only five wires to connect. The transceiver and LED come complete with wires and plug directly into the controller. It's that simple! CarDefender supplies extensive detailed instructions that even an auto novice can follow without a problem.

I can't install CarDefender myselfNo problem! Any auto mechanic or car stereo installer is more than capable of installing CarDefender. This includes us car guys and gals. The installation process is simple and straightforward. There are only 5 wires to connect one of which is a ground, We provide detailed instructions designed for the "do-it-yourselfer", which a mechanic will have no problem following. Installation rates will vary but we have found that most mechanics will need 1 or 2 hours to install if they have never seen a CarDefender before.
To install CarDefender you must mount the Controller, Transceiver and if you desire, the LED. The controller should be mounted somewhere inaccessible to a thief. We recommend mounting it as high up inside the dash as possible, making it very difficult if not impossible to find.
The transceiver needs to be mounted behind any non-metallic surface of your dash or console. (We have even installed it in the driver's seat!) Use your imagination.
The LED simply requires a 7/32" hole.
CarDefender disables your vehicle by disabling a critical system. In most vehicles that system is the Electronic Control Module. This is the "brain" of your modern engine and controls such functions as fuel injection & ignition. Without this system your vehicle cannot run.
To disable this system you simply locate the ignition on power feed from your fuse box, cut the wire and splice each of the cut ends onto the CarDefender wiring harness. The next step is to identify a continuous source of 12vdc and a switched source of 12vdc. (Switched meaning it ONLY has power when the key is in the ON and CRANK positions.) Once you have identified these sources you simply connect to the proper wires in the CarDefender harness, then connect the ground wire and your wiring is complete. (CarDefender recommends that all wires be twisted & soldered, then taped to assure a lifetime of trouble free operation.)
The hidden transceiver and LED simply plug into the end of the controller.
